So, what have I been up to lately? Not much.
I have laid in so many plastic containers in my death-match against the meal moths that my pantry would make a Tupperware salesman perish with delight. It had gotten to where I couldn’t walk past the pantry without inspecting the dry goods, and yes, I was *still* finding worms. Aarrgh!
After suffering from the ill-timed antics of our booby-trap shower head *bonk!* for 3+ years, we finally got around to finding the right replacement part for attaching the shower head to the wall (37 bucks for one little part!). It took the combined might of John and myself to get the original bit off, but it was worth every ounce of elbow grease. Now we’ll have to think of another way to keep overnight guests on their toes.
I’ve been going through a very Betty Crocker phase recently. First I tried a recipe for beer bread out of a magazine for students I picked up at the university. It was only so-so. Then since we were out of store-bought bread, and no one wanted to eat any more beer bread, I made a batch of my old standby, James Beard’s whole wheat bread. Then I got really creative and made a Swedish Lenten specialty, semlor. mmm... calorie bomb... I still have a few other items on my to-make list, but I am quickly running out of steam.
John has decided to call the last couple of months “The Winter That Wasn’t.” Here’s a little photographic proof, taken by yours truly last weekend as Hannah and I walked through the rain to the bank.
